Adulteration is the intentional tampering with a urine sample by the donor to avoid detection of illicit drug use. Successful adulteration produces a false-negative drug test result. Rapid Detect has products that will detect adulterants in human urine.
The Intect 7 urine adulteration test strip is a plastic strip affixed with 7 chemically treated pads for assessing the integrity of the urine sample prior to Drugs-of-Abuse testing. By visual color examination of the pads after dipping the strip into the urine sample, semi-quantitative values of creatinine, nitrite, glutaraldehyde, pH, specific gravity, bleach and pyridinium chlorochromate can be determined and the intactness of the sample can be assessed .
iScreens Drug Adulteration Strips are a fast dip-and-read test for the determination of diluted or adulterated urine specimens. They are an important prescreening test for any drug testing program.
The iCup A.D. contains a specimen validity test or SVT strip that verifies the validity of a specimen. The SVT strip checks for oxidants, specific gravity and pH in the specimen. For example, if someone tries to substitute water for urine, the specific gravity indicator will show an abnormal reading.
